Plastic Free Plymouth (supporting the Preventing Plastic Pollution Project)

Phase one of this citywide project was launched in 2017 and backed up, in 2018, by the Council’s Plan for Plastics. Working with the Surfers Against Sewage Plastic Free Communities project, its key aim is to reduce the sheer extent of single use plastic in the environment. So far 135 businesses, 125 community groups and 53 schools have taken up the challenge and identified 3 items of plastic that they can eliminate from every day use – creating a network of their own ! We’ve also identified over 80 types of plastic that can be targeted and gained Plastic Free status for both the Waterfront District and the city of Plymouth.

Phase 2 of the campaign, supporting the Interreg funded Preventing Plastic Pollution, will be kick started as part of the Plastic Free July celebrations so why not join us ? We are looking to recruit 50 new businesses, 50 new community groups and individuals and the remaining 60 schools in Plymouth by Feb 23 and to create a Plastic Free Charter to unite everyone. The pledge form you need to complete is attached. We also have a citywide Working Group that would welcome your ideas and engagement.
