Salary scale: £20,971.60 to £22,036.92 per annum
Hours: Part-time -18.5 hours per week
Workbase: Hybrid working pattern – mix of office and working

About this role:
This is a new role as part of the growth of our Legal Advice Centre. As Legal Assessor you will be the first point of contact for members of the public seeking legal advice from the Citizens Advice Plymouth Legal Advice Centre. You’ll work both face to face and on the phone to establish the client’s issue, ensure all relevant information is collected, help them resolve their issue, and provide the best next steps. You will also explain our services, book appointments, and write up case notes to support our pro bono client services to run smoothly.
This role will have a hybrid contract (after completion of training), with a minimum of 4 days a month in the office at Cobourg House, 32 Mayflower Street, Plymouth. You will be expected to be able to attend the office at short notice if required.
During your induction and training period you will be required to attend the office full time, and specifics of your hybrid working pattern can be agreed in your first few weeks.
We anticipate this role to start in January 2023, with interviews the week commencing 19th December 2022.
Who we are looking for:
It is essential that candidates for this role have a law degree or equivalent qualifications or experience.
You will have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to ensure the best possible service is provided to our clients. The ideal candidate will understand client issues and problems relating to family law, employment, and housing, in order to explore the client’s circumstances and asses their legal advice needs.
You will be able to give and receive feedback objectively and sensitively, with a willingness to challenge constructively. You must be able to monitor and maintain your own standards and manage your time and contact with clients effectively for the purpose of assessing their needs.
Excellent IT skills are essential, and you should enjoy working as part of a busy, motivated, and supportive team and be able to adapt well to changing priorities.
The ideal candidate for this role will have experience of working with clients who may have experienced domestic violence and/or sexual violence.
