Age UK Plymouth is seeking Cooks and Kitchen Assistants to play key roles in supporting our clients through the promotion of choice, opportunity and independence. The primary purpose of these roles is to support the Chef Manager in the effective operation of the catering function at Age UK Plymouth’s two centres in Plymouth and Plymstock.
As Cook you will be responsible for cooking hearty home cooked meals to clients, staff, volunteers and members of the general public across both sites and meeting catering requirements at events and meetings. The successful candidate will have experience of working in a commercial kitchen. A current Food Hygiene certificate, Health and Safety awareness certificate, City and Guilds Catering 706/1 and 706/2 or Equivalent Qualifications / Relevant Experience is essential.
As Kitchen Assistant your main role will be to carry out general kitchen duties – such as preparing meals, laying tables, serving, clearing away, washing up – under the instruction and supervision of the Chef Manager or Cook. Basic cooking skills are preferred and previous experience would be advantageous. An up to date food hygiene certificate is desirable.
We provide a service to clients 7 days a week. Full time and part time positions considered. A flexible approach to work is required.

Kitchen Assistant Rate of Pay: £8.91 per hour
Cook Rate of Pay: £9.50 per hour
