Briefly describe your project
Launched in 2009, the Plymouth Hope Festival was initiated as part of Plymouth Hope aims to foster community and social cohesion. Our goal is to bring people together to celebrate our diversity and togetherness. And we did that by using football as the main tool and alongside that music, art, and food from across the UK and around the world including children’s activities. The festival is the official launch of refugee week in the city, bringing together many organisations to celebrate the contribution of refugees in the UK.
During the first round, POP members will be asked to advise you. What advice would be most helpful?
Any advice would be most appreciated especially around ratings.
Describe what you hope your Collective will achieve
This 13th edition of the festival is an opportunity for Plymouth residents and organisations to learn more about the contribution of refugees and Asylum seekers in the city and it’s also an occasion for people from all around the world to come together.
We are hoping to promote a range of cultures with our community leaders from different countries bringing their traditional food. We will have a range of activities for the family and the children to take part in. We will also have the football tournament with youth and adult teams taking part in a friendly yet competitive tournament. Well-being activities such as table tennis, bubble football, bouncy castle and so much more. We will have a range of artists, musicians and performers throughout the day entertaining the wider public.
The festival is also the launching of Refugee Week 2023 with the theme COMPASSION where communities will have the opportunity to come and display a simple act. Thank you to partners and supporters, this event has grown and has been the biggest multicultural event in the city over the last few years. It’s happening again this year at Brickfield Sport Centre. We would like to invite you and more people from all walks of lives, organisations (private &public) to join in this well established celebration.

Diversity Business Incubator, Ptown Radio and Odils are partners that we work closely with and they have also been actively involved in the previous festivals so the collective is a natural collaboration between organisations that have been working in partnership for many years and we have built trust throughout the years.
